Past Programs

PRSA Delaware had a exciting line-up of programs during 2009.  Here are some highlights from the programs.

  • Insider Secrets for Working with the National Media

Janice Johnston, producer for ABC - 20/20, addressed the group in March; she is pictured here with PRSA leader Jennifer Johnston (right).  Janice answered key questions, including:

    • Are you ready for the national spotlight?
    • How do you get through the door to reach a national audience?
    • Will your pitch be heard or ignored?
    • What do producers really think about on the road to “yes?”

  • Understanding SEO: Make Your Press Release Thrive Online

Aaron Nye (left) and Lee Marshall (center) from Business Wire presented an interactive and informative program in April.  Designed for communication professionals who wished to learn how to use Search Engine Optimization (SEO), the program offered strategic tips to help get media attention and how to use your existing online content to enhance press release HTML tags used by search engines.  Our presenters are pictured here with PRSA Delaware President Michele Schiavoni, APR, MS.

  • Congratulations, you have created a strategic plan -- now what?

David Brond, vice president of communications and marketing, University of Delaware, presented a case study on the University's new strategic plan, taking attendees from strategy to action while offering tips for successfully marketing and communicating a strategic plan.

  • Business is Good

Alan Levin, director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, spoke to Chapter members and guests on the topic of communicating in an economic downturn. He addressed this important issue and answered other economic-related questions during his presentation in October 2009.

  • Crisis Communications 2010

Nationally-recognized crisis communications expert, Anne Klein, APR, Fellow PRSA, spoke to PRSA members and guests on April 29.  In her lively and witty style, Anne spoke on a variety of topics related to crisis communications, including crisis prevention, management and recovery as well as how social media, citizen journalists and transparency affect communicators during a crisis.
